Members of the PEI Working Group for a Livable Income (WGLI) presented to the Standing Committee on Health and Social Development on June 12, 2024.
In their presentation, members of the WGLI, including, Marie Burge, Jane Ledwell and Jillian Killfoil, presented 'A Proposal for a Basic Income Guarantee Benefit for Prince Edward Island' to the Standing Committee on Health and Social Development. This is part of a continued push to provide evidence-based assurance that a Basic Income demonstration project in Prince Edward Island is both affordable and politically feasible.

Cooper Institute works on the issues of livable income through the PEI Working Group for a Livable Income, a non-governmental network of ten community-based organizations and a number of individual members. The group was formed in 2003 in response to a community request. It has functioned as a collective with consensus decision-making.
